What does a press release cost?

The short answer, the billing models behind it, and a worked example with our own options — including the rows where the subscription is not the cheaper choice.

The short answer

One publication costs 19 € net (22,61 € incl. 19 % VAT) — on both portals, presseecho and businessportal24, with content review, your own newsroom and permanent archiving. No subscription, no minimum term, no single purchase that expires.

If you publish rarely, you pay per release. If you publish regularly, a monthly plan starts at Starter € net for 3 releases a month — cancellable monthly. All plans are listed on the pricing page.

Why prices in the market differ so widely

Press portals bill in four basic models. The price per release alone says little; what matters is what the model costs when you use it rarely.

Model What it costs when used rarely
Monthly or yearly subscription keeps running, even in months without a release
Credit packages with an expiry date unused credit expires on the cut-off date
Pay per release only the actual publication
Free with conditions no fee, but restrictions on links, images or visibility — why we do not offer it

Each model has its place: a subscription pays off with predictable volume, pay-per-release with irregular volume. The problem is not the model but a model that only shows itself after sign-up.

How to spot follow-up costs

Six questions you can apply to any offer — including ours. The answers belong on the pricing page; if they only appear in the terms, that is already an answer.

  1. Is the price public, or only visible after sign-up?
  2. Does the contract renew automatically, and with what notice period?
  3. Does unused credit expire?
  4. What does a correction after publication cost?
  5. What does deletion cost?
  6. Does the release stay online permanently, or only for the contract term?

What applies here

The same six questions, answered for presseecho and businessportal24 — plus a seventh we ask ourselves.

  1. Public price — 19 € net per publication, plans from Starter € net a month. All prices are on the pricing page before sign-up, net plus VAT.
  2. Renewal — A single publication renews nothing. Monthly plans renew monthly and can be cancelled monthly, yearly plans at the end of the term — also without logging in, via the cancellation page.
  3. Credit — A purchased single publication does not expire; it is only used up when the release is published. A plan's monthly quota applies to that month. Credits for add-ons are valid for at least three years, with a reminder before expiry.
  4. Corrections — Small corrections — typos, contact details, a new press contact — are free. A content change with a new review costs 10 € net.
  5. Deletion — Reporting unlawful content and exercising legal rights is always free. Voluntary removal of a lawful release from public view costs 35 € net; the URL remains with a notice. Details: have a press release deleted or changed.
  6. Duration — Published releases stay online — whether or not a plan is still running. Cancelling takes nothing offline.
  7. Rejected releases — A release that fails the content review uses neither quota nor a single purchase. You only pay for what appears.

Worked example: our own options compared

Pay per release (19 € each) versus the Starter plan (29 € a month for up to 3 releases), booked only in months with a publication. All amounts net.

Releases a year Distribution Pay per release Starter months cheaper
1 one release 19 € 29 € pay per release
3 all in the same month 57 € 29 € Starter
3 one each in 3 months 57 € 87 € pay per release
12 one a month 228 € 348 € pay per release
12 3 each in 4 months 228 € 116 € Starter

The plan pays off when several releases fall into the same month. If you publish one release after another across the year, pay-per-release is cheaper — that is here on purpose.

Beyond the quota, an additional release on the Starter plan costs 15 € net; larger plans lower that price. All tiers on the pricing page.
